Dana Newell (BSIE Purdue and MBA Michigan)

Dana received her bachelor of science in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. While on campus, she was active in WIEP’s Mentor and Mentee’s program and served on the leadership team for 3 years and was on the executive board of Purdue’s Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. She held internships as an industrial engineer for two summers at the DaimlerChrysler transmission plant in Kokomo, IN.

After graduating from Purdue, Dana started at Whirlpool Corporation in their Global Supply Chain Leadership Development Program (GSCLDP). Through this program, Dana held challenging and diverse roles across the integrated supply chain including procurement, supply chain and manufacturing. After completing GSCLDP, Dana spent 3.5 years at Whirlpool’s washing machine operations located in Clyde, OH leading the material planning department and then managing a portion of the assembly operations.

While at the Clyde operations, Dana attended the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business Weekend MBA Program, completing her degree in General Management in May 2014. After completing her MBA, Dana began in Whirlpool’s master’s level business rotational program called the Global Leader Program. This 5 year program will give her experience in strategy, commercial and operations.

Currently, Dana is working in Whirlpool’s Corporate Strategy and Business Development group and has worked in mergers and acquisitions, strategic projects, competitive intelligence and annual business planning. She currently resides in St. Joseph, MI with her dog Lola, is getting married this June and enjoys fitness, travel and is getting ready to run her 3rd full marathon at the end of April.

Dana is interested in chatting with students regarding the opportunities opened through an engineering degree, work/life balance, career planning or helping to answer any other questions that may be of interest.
